With over 1150 miles of shoreline, more than the entire California coast, and 92 miles from one end to the other, there are many places to explore. On the quieter areas of the lake you can go skiing, wakeboarding, or tubing. Personal Watercraft, such as Skidoos, is another fun way to spend your time. Maybe you would just prefer to take a leisurely sail out on your sailboat. The main channel is filled with cruisers and large speed boats. Whatever you are looking for - excitement or relaxation, the Lake can fulfill your desires.

The Lake is easily accessible from several cities. Major airports as well as commuter airports are a short distance. Jefferson City , Missouri 's capitol is within 45 minutes. Springfield is within 1 ½ hours. Branson rivals Nashville for the title of country music capital of the Midwest and is within two hours. St. Louis and Kansas City are both within a 2 ½ hour drive time.

The summers are incredible with warm days and endless activity on the Lake 's water. The average temperature in summer is around 90 degrees Fahrenheit with the Lake warming to the upper 80's. This is also the time of year when Lake activity is at its peak, teeming with people enjoying all the excitement this area has to offer.

Speaking of excitement, the Lake of the Ozarks has many restaurants, ranging from 5 Star Dining to Mom and Pop diners. The night life is lively and filled with music, with dance clubs, sports bars, and pubs to suit anyone's taste. Enjoy a night of laughter at the Lake 's comedy club or a live band at one of the many night clubs. Most clubs and pubs have boat slips so many people spend most of their time on the water!

Boating is a big part of Lake life and there are many aspects for you to enjoy. The Lake hosts many bass tournaments for fishermen. The Lake Shoot Out is a huge boat race that people from all over the world come to see every year. If fast boats excite you, be here the last weekend in August. The roar of the engines on these racing boats will really get your adrenaline going. It is an awesome sight to see the boats going 200 miles per hour down the main channel, the rooster tail spraying up behind them.

Of course, boating and night life aren't the only things the Lake has to offer. The Lake of the Ozarks has more than 13 Championship Golf Courses. While you are enjoying 18 holes of golf, the rest of your family could have a wonderful day of shopping at the Osage Beach Premium Outlet Mall with over 120 shops or any of the unique shops that the Lake has to offer. Perhaps time at one of the spas at the Lake is more to your liking.

Family friendly activities abound with tons of arcades, go-karts, mini golf and skee ball all around the Lake . You could also go to Big Surf Water Park for a day of fun in the sun. For the more down to earth, literally, there are several caves for you to explore that offer tours. If you love nature there are many hiking, biking and horseback riding trails for your enjoyment. A trip to the Bagnell Dam strip would make a fun day, with all of the attractions for the kids, the shopping and the Fudge… Oh yes, the Lake area has some of the best Homemade Fudge.

The weather here at the Lake is pretty mild. The autumn days are incredible with the temperature averaging around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. The trees transform in the early weeks of October, changing to beautiful reds, oranges, yellows and rust colors. The reflection of the vivid colors in the Lake makes boating picturesque and peaceful. You will see many Cruisers and fishermen on the Lake in the fall.

The average temperature in the winter is around 46 degrees Fahrenheit during the day. With the water temperature being higher in December than the air temperature much of the time, it makes for a beautiful picture. Early in the morning with the steam rising from the water, it gives a surreal, mythical appearance. The lakes water fowl and other creatures are abundant at lake side this time of the year.

Like a Monet painting with touches of color coming out on the trees, the light spring greens, the beautiful lavender of the redbuds and the pearly whites of the dogwoods and wild plum trees, make the spring a beautiful time. The flowers begin to bloom and the landscape is transformed. The temperature in spring averages around 66 degrees Fahrenheit. There are many festivals throughout the year, and one of the largest is the Dogwood Festival in the spring.
